I hope I can get better with it. I've only been able to try it indoors, and there's been so little light. What aperture and shutter speed were you using? :)
This was in our Family Room at night - pretty dark. (Reminded me a bit of the model shoot.) F1.8 for both of them. The vertical shot was at an ISO of 400 and shutter speed of 1/13. You know - that shutter speed we're not supposed to be able to do without a tripod. For the horizontal I bumped the ISO up to 800 and brought the shutter speed up to 1/40.
I think you're already working the compoisition, since the second one has your subject off center (rule of thirds). The first one was hard for me to figure out if it was James or Christopher at first.
I'm Candice - the working mom with a homeschooling family. We're into all kind of different things - cycling (the 3 boys are)/sports generally, family, learning, missions and most importantly growing in our relationships with Jesus. We have all kind of crazy things going on all the time.

Cute! You will love that 50 mm. That is what I used on Saturday's shoot.
